Libra with pets
Pisceans tend to attract lost animals and lame ducks. Your easy-going, adaptable nature makes you a natural friend to any kind of creature in need, and they somehow manage to find their way to your door. For that reason, your home is more likely to be filled with strays, mutts and mongrels than pedigree pets.

Typical Pisceans adore all their animals but do seem to have something of a problem when it comes to administering discipline and control. You have an instinctive understanding of what your pets need, and know immediately if they are unhappy or ill. However, teaching them obedience comes a little less naturally. Fortunately, because most animals recognize and share your intuitive skills, they tend to know automatically what you want, and do it anyway.

You worry about your pets and about what will happen to them when you are no longer around. You hate having to leave them and, if forced to do so, are liable to telephone their carers at frequent intervals to ensure that all is well. Your vivid imagination can cause sleepless nights - especially when the cat is out on the tiles. Nonetheless, your life would be sadly diminished without them.

Pisceans tend to be fascinated by fish which, along with all other water animals apart from shellfish, are ruled by your sign. A tank-full of tropical freshwater fish is a relaxing and reassuring sight for many Pisceans, who tend to share their laissez-faire approach to life. Apart from piranhas, these fish are rarely aggressive but they are very sensitive to vibrations and fumes such as nicotine.

Canaries are also very Piscean although it is not uncommon for individuals born under this empathetic sign to dislike seeing birds in cages. Canaries are friendly and sensitive with lovely voices and a need for peace and quiet. However, in common with Pisceans, they are easily upset and may stop singing if depressed.

For those of you intent upon actively acquiring a dog or cat, rather than waiting for one to appear on your doorstep, beagles and British shorthairs come top of the Piscean list. Beagles, the smallest of all the hounds, are friendly and affectionate, and make kind and devoted pets. They have a great deal of stamina and need plenty of exercise. And, because they will eat virtually anything, they are prone to obesity.

British shorthairs are the most peaceful, laid-back and relaxed of cats, affectionate to their owners and with few cares in the world. Because they are not avid climbers, they can be more easily confined to a garden with high fencing than many other cats. They are deeply sensitive and sympathetic to the extent that they can be traumatised by major upheavals in the home.

The suggestions above are merely guidelines and in no way suggest that there is only one breed or type of pet which is suitable for any one Zodiac sign. And it is, of course, essential to know everything there is to know about buying and keeping any pet before taking it home.
