Sagittarius parents are warm, funny and loving. They treat their children as equals, take them on spontaneous jaunts and regard them as close friends. They believe in sparing the rod and have grand theories on child-rearing. In practice, they take their youngsters to exotic places for their holidays, buy them extravagant and imaginative presents and throw wonderful offbeat parties for them.

Sagittarius mother encourages her offspring to be independent and to formulate their own philosophies about life. She answers their questions frankly – sometimes a little too frankly for more conventional tastes. She invents games and activities to keep them amused and re-creates for them the fantasy world which she enjoyed as a child and, to an extent, still subconsciously believes in. She does, however, need her own project or career to occupy her mind in order to avoid feeling trapped or tied down by her family.

Sagittarius father is tolerant of his children’s misdemeanors. He plays football and tennis with them and enjoys his sons more when they are older and he and they can be boys together. He encourages them to be freethinkers and nonconformists but can get impatient if they are slow to learn or master some new theory or technique.

Sagittarius parents are great fun, although they can, at times, embarrass their offspring by being unwittingly indiscreet. Their children tend to mature early and achieve their own independence sooner than other youngsters.
